Abstract

Designed to acknowledge the group of us composers and conductors who met on Zoom during Covid lockdown. Thought not the original intention, it became the first of a cycle that explores the implications and ramifications of a single note. 'Speakeasy' employs a variation adjacent structure. As cocktails were an element of the Zoom meetings, they provided the titles of each of the five interlinked movements, but they describe neither the recipes nor the effects of said cocktails...
