Abstract
A collaborative and interactive performance installation for an amplified ensemble of 6+ players, and an interactive sound artist.
Programme Note:
Inspired by the notion of baryogenesis - one crucial missing piece of the puzzle in our current Standard Model of Cosmology, this piece symbolically refers to some unknown mechanism that disrupted the supposed symmetry (both of quantity and of behaviour) between any types of particles and anti-particles within a small fraction of a second after the Big Bang. The mechanism resulted in an imbalanced creation of matter over anti-matter, baryons over anti-baryons, and an observed, infinitely evolving universe that could have been empty in the first place.
That said, the piece is a rhetorical question that in itself demands many more questions. The many variations of the piece, as well as the resultant installation-like performance revolve around the acts of radiation, (failed) annihilation, subjugation, expansion, and with a curiously conserved absence of energy. It is enacted upon a framework wherein true equilibrium is close-by yet never will be achieved, with many entangled musical and sonic entities travelling both forward and backwards simultaneously inside a vacuum space.
