Dan Baczkowski

Dan Baczkowski (1994) is a composer and music psychologist. His PhD project is supervised by Prof. Adam Gorb and Dr Michelle Phillips. Dan's research is focused on listeners’ perception of time and large-scale form in music. His methodology includes a combination of compositional practice and quantatative empirical studies. Following an interest in the burgeoning field of live concert research, Dan also explores how science may be incorporated into the concert hall to potentially enhance the audience and performer experience.

Dan completed his MMus in Composition and Musicology at RNCM in 2022 studying with Adam Gorb and Paul Patterson, and a BA Hons in Composition from Leeds College of Music in 2015. His music has been performed both across the UK and internationally by groups such as Manger Musikklag, and The Band of HM Royal Marines Scotland.
