This paper charted the collaboration of Open Up Music, an organisation running inclusive and open orchestras across the UK, with ABRSM, a global music exam board, in creating attainment descriptors for their young musicians. The paper discussed the existing marking criteria model, ways we can measure the right things in music performance and some of the challenges of implementing attainment descriptors with music leaders and young musicians.
